C846 Upright and Stationary Recumbent Cycle
This is an award winning, recumbent, stationary exercise bike design for the commercial fitness industry. The client's objective was to reduce tooling costs for the new fitness product.
The development team incorporated identical main covers on this new recumbent cycle product design from the client's existing upright bike in order to reduce tooling costs. This design strategy leveraged 90% of the total tooling costs, and established a family look for the client's current fitness line.
We were careful to balance the aesthetics between the two products. The strong diagonal line created by the unique cantilevered seat rail and sculpted side panels semantically represents forward motion, much like a motorcycle shroud. The bold intersection of the front support tube and main body gives the new fitness product a solid look and feel.
Comfort is improved through the ergonomic development of the seat pads that incorporate soft recesses to relieve pressure on the spine and pelvic bone.
This recumbent cycle product design is made for ease of assembly. Design components can be removed through a system of socket head cap screws. Removing only one of the side covers exposes all of the internal mechanisms for service.
This fitness product design received an EID award and was honored at the SPE Thermoforming Conference with Best Pressure Formed Part for the recumbent cycle shroud design.

Here Mobile Tables
The combined efforts of Cesaroni Design and Bretford Manufacturing brought a complete office furniture system from concept to market in only fourteen months. The goal of this design project was to produce a new furniture line that meets the demands of highly productive work environments.
The design team conducted interviews with industry professionals. The market research found that space limitation and heavy furniture slowed down the progression of activities. This finding led the project team to redefine the functionality of office communication through the composition of mobile interconnecting work surfaces.
The success of the new product design largely depended on the creation of an approachable aesthetic. The Cesaroni Design industrial designers focused on a minimalist approach revealing mechanical capabilities.
As a result, this furniture system has an intelligent look and innovative style that paves the way for the communicative furniture trend. The round steel tubing of the tables and mobile walls gives a soft aesthetic.
The designers used plastic components for both aesthetic and functional reasons. The plastic parts of the table cover welded areas and visually reduce the side opening where cords and hands interact. Casters were incorporated for mobility, and the design flows directly into the tubular leg, simplifying this integration.
Multiple design components of this system share common piece parts and are constructed out of the same materials. This aids in the affordability and manufacturing process.
The new products connect by a lightweight mechanism. This intuitive design allows users to achieve multiple formations. The palm-sized device interlocks to its counterpart in a puzzle-like connection joining tables and mobile boards together. This design element eliminates the need for tools and multiple personnel to reconfigure the environment.
This award winning furniture system received both a Best of NeoCon Gold Award and Good Design Award for the new innovative design in the office furniture industry.

Here Mobile Rail System
Our product design firm assisted Bretford with this rail system design. The industrial design team envisioned a wall with layers.
The layout of the wall track system hides one board behind another. This unique three tiered system staggers the unveiling of their presence and information.
The cleverness and practicality of this design maximizes wall space. This design solution gives the user the ability to dynamically change the focal point in the room while adding interest to the presentation.

Digital Innovations
SkipDR Original
Digital Innovations felt there was an opportunity to create a new consumer product to repair damaged discs. Working as a team with our client, we developed a handheld device to repair primary causes of playback problems in all CD size media.
We began the project by investigating user features in products that utilize a similar radial mechanical function, such as fishing reels, hand mixers, etc. Our designers built several breadboard models to maximize both function and user friendliness.
The handle is angled to allow the wrist to rest in a natural position during operation. The diameter of the handle is contoured to fit all hand sizes. The thumb and index finger grip on the operating crank is sculpted for non-slip operation.
Cesaroni Design's product designers utilized the same snap on holder as designed on CD jewel cases to place the disc into the device. This design strategy made for ease of use.
This new consumer product has earned numerous awards including, Design Distinction from I.D. Magazine Annual Design Review, Best of Show from CES Innovation, Accessory of the Year from PlayStation Magazine and a Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum.

9000 Series Treadmill
The combined efforts of Life Fitness and Cesaroni Design developed this second generation cardio product for the health club industry. The project goal was to create a durable look for this new treadmill product design.
Oversized design elements are incorporated into the new product design to reflect a durable cardio product. Wider stepping rails and lengthened side handrails help open and expand the user's space.
Muscular-shaped plastic motor housing integrates the vertical steel uprights with the horizontal running deck. The console is raised and angled to improve the sightline to the readouts. This new angle also brings the buttons closer to the user for easier operation.
The treadmill product design was recognized by Recreation Resources Magazine as Top Five Products of the Year.
