Integrated Refrigeration
This award winning design is a system of twenty-three (plus additional SKUs) refrigeration/freezer products that preserve food and wine to their maximum potential and can be integrated into any room of one's home. The intended users are home owners throughout the world. The ultimate consumer food and wine preservation system was the goal. The refrigeration products provide kitchen designers and architects with the maximum amount of flexibility integrating the products into contemporary, transitional, or traditionally designed home environments. The products may be featured with ultra clean stainless steel enclosures or integrated into any style of wood cabinetry (European or domestic).

PolyScience
Refrigerating/ Heating Circulating Water Baths
This award winning Water Bath is part of a new product line of temperature control equipment. We worked closely with PolyScience's engineering staff to improve upon the existing units and better understand assembly and service requirements.
The ideation process included concept renderings and screen images of the new product line to evaluate different design languages. The chosen concept was further developed by creating prototype geometry using SolidWorks. The resulting part files were shared with our client for further review. A prototype model was built to ensure aesthetics, fit, finish, function and service of the new units.
The new line of circulating water baths conveys a sophisticated yet commercial design language. Human factors, assembly and service drove the basic functionality of the industrial design priorities.
This ergonomic design integrates convenient handles for ease of repositioning the units. The new products are designed with a unique lid docking system to store the reservoir cover. This design element eliminates mess when adding or removing liquid and samples. A corrosion and chemical resistant top plate dampens noise and remains cooler at high temperatures.
The compact design of the control head occupies a minimum of reservoir space to provide more room for liquid and samples. The control head can be rotated within a 180-degree radius. The operator can also easily view the temperatures with the large digital display.
The intuitive interface design makes the units simple to operate. Their LCD touchscreen technology features an icon driven interface to guide users through setup and operation. The operator can easily scroll through menus, functions and options, even while wearing gloves.
The units are easy to maintain. The design team incorporated a front mount drain and washable air filter to simplify maintenance.

Health o meter® Professional
ProPlus® Portable Wheelchair Scale
Health o meter® Professional teamed with the Cesaroni Design industrial design firm to develop an award winning medical device. We began the project with concept sketches and renderings to evaluate a range of aesthetic and ergonomic design options.
The new medical product is constructed of laser cut and brake-formed aluminum. This made the product 2 pounds lighter than the previous model. The lighter weight, centrally located and comfortable handle, and folding capability make the product easy to transport.
The simplicity of the design was critical in order for the unit to be aesthetically appealing in both its portable and in-use positions. Fabricating a product out of aluminum requires attention to every bend and resulting gap. The design team paid close attention to the integration of the fabricated aluminum with the injection molded enclosure. This integration is clean, with compatible form factors and minimum exposed fasteners.
The enclosure for the user interface design is made from injection-molded ABS. The oversized backlit LCD display makes reading easier for the user. The interface design consists of a polycarbonate membrane switch keypad, and the LCD displays a menu for ease of operation.
The new medical design earned IDEA Bronze and a Good Design award.

Get Set Chair
Cesaroni Design collaborated with the Allsteel product development team to create a multi-functional office furniture line consisting of chairs, tables and presentation boards.
The project began with the design team visiting office spaces to interview personnel, maintenance employees and facility planners. From the product research, the team concluded that most offices have multifunctional spaces that change many times a day. There is, however, a lack of flexibility inherent in most office furniture systems.
The chair is ergonomically designed to be comfortable to sit in for four to six hours. The lightweight design allows for stacking without heavy lifting. Nesting capability makes the new product compact for storage.
Materials evaluation played a large role in the development process of the chair design. A heavy coil spring permits the back of the chair to flex naturally and support regular shifts in seating posture. This tension device is located in the welded steel frame to retain the aesthetic design. Its ventilated back is made from gas assist glass-filled nylon. This manufacturing method allows for strength in thick sections and flexibility in thin sections. The chair arms are made of glass-filled injection molded nylon.
This product design earned an IDEA Bronze, Good Design Award and Top Honors by the Society of Plastics Industry.

Get Set Table
The industrial designers at Cesaroni Design worked closely with Allsteel's engineers to develop the mechanical elements of this office table design.
The table legs are structured of extruded aluminum and the bases of the legs are die-castings. The lightweight tabletop is made from a honeycomb structure.
The project team developed a folding mechanism that is minimal in size. This mechanism allows the tabletop to flip so tables can nest tightly together for storage. Recessed release levers located under the table are easy for occasional users to find and require a short learning curve.
This office table design earned an IDEA Bronze and Good Design Award.

Get Set Presentation
This presentation system was designed by Cesaroni Design and Allsteel's internal product development team. The wall presentation tools are designed to be lightweight and functional.
The wall boards are laminated porcelain on composite board. The boards hang from a simple wall-mounted, extruded aluminum rail. Swivel hooks made from injection molded plastic, make lift-and-turn transitions easy without removing the boards from the rail.
This presentation system earned an IDEA Bronze and Good Design Award for the new product design.
