9500HR Upright Lifecycle Bike
Aesthetics and ergonomics were driving thoughts behind the development of this award winning, stationary, upright, Lifecycle exercise bike for the fitness industry.
Our fitness product design firm began the process with concept sketches and renderings. We evaluated the aesthetic and styling options along with our client to select the look and feel for the new product design. A partially exposed frame was selected to give the fitness product a durable look. Simple forms of the shrouds cover all major internal components.
The new upright bike product design incorporates several ergonomic features. The fitness product design team lowered the step over height to make it easier to mount and dismount. Racing style handlebars were implemented into the new product so that riders can rest their forearms on over-molded pads that are integrated into the grips. The universal console is angled at a better sightline.
This upright bike product design received EID and Good Design awards.

Allsteel Inc.
Get Set Chair
Cesaroni Design collaborated with the Allsteel product development team to create a multi-functional office furniture line consisting of chairs, tables and presentation boards.
The project began with the design team visiting office spaces to interview personnel, maintenance employees and facility planners. From the product research, the team concluded that most offices have multifunctional spaces that change many times a day. There is, however, a lack of flexibility inherent in most office furniture systems.
The chair is ergonomically designed to be comfortable to sit in for four to six hours. The lightweight design allows for stacking without heavy lifting. Nesting capability makes the new product compact for storage.
Materials evaluation played a large role in the development process of the chair design. A heavy coil spring permits the back of the chair to flex naturally and support regular shifts in seating posture. This tension device is located in the welded steel frame to retain the aesthetic design. Its ventilated back is made from gas assist glass-filled nylon. This manufacturing method allows for strength in thick sections and flexibility in thin sections. The chair arms are made of glass-filled injection molded nylon.
This product design earned an IDEA Bronze, Good Design Award and Top Honors by the Society of Plastics Industry.

Wolf Appliance, Inc.
Dual Fuel Range, 48-inch
The product designers at Cesaroni Design worked closely with Wolf Appliance's internal marketing and engineering teams to develop an award winning product line of Dual Fuel Ranges in 30-inch, 36-inch, 48-inch and 60-inch sizes.
The project challenge was to create consumer ranges with commercial performance, bringing the Wolf brand name into stronger market visibility. Our client's technological innovations required the integration of new, energy efficient and user-friendly electronic controls into the new product line, without losing their professional brand identity.
The industrial designers walked a fine line between looking too commercial and too residential. The unique design solution down played the sophisticated electronics and featured the durability of commercial equipment. This design strategy established a level of aesthetic detail refinement that could integrate the appliance into vastly different residential kitchen environments.
The project team developed full-scale foam core mockups to maximize user experience. Model testing helped the project team evaluate the user interface design. This ensured that the concealed electronic control panel would pivot open at an appropriate ergonomic viewing angle.
Another innovative ergonomic feature is the patented control knob design. This unique design incorporates LED lighting technology to display the temperature. Function graphics are printed on the most visible surface for easy legibility.
The exterior of the new appliance design is constructed of stainless steel with an elliptically shaped stainless steel handle and investment cast stainless steel endcaps. The porcelain-coated cast iron burner grates appear commercially robust. They are cored out from the bottom in order to be easily removable for cleaning.
Wolf Appliance has been ranked #1 by J.D. Power and Associates in the Range/Cooktop/Oven category of their 2010 Home Appliance Study. This satisfaction study is based on ease of use; performance and reliability; styling and feel; features; and warranty.
This award winning major appliance design won both an Excellence in Design Award and a Good Design Award for the new product design.

Total Body Cross-Trainer
Cesaroni Design and Life Fitness received recognition and earned numerous design awards for this cardio fitness machine, including a Good Design award, Design Innovation for Best Consumer Product from Health and Fitness Business Magazine, Platinum from Consumers Digest Magazine, and Best Elliptical on the Market from Smart Money Magazine.
The design language exposes the motion of this cardio machine. This revealed welded steel frame gives the user more freedom of movement. The bared moving joints of the machine express simplicity and durability.
The product is sized to fit the highest and lowest percentage of the population. The arms are redesigned and adjusted to a wider angle. A bullhorn handlebar also adds stabilization during mounting and dismounting. All grip areas are over-molded rubber surfaces to ensure comfort during workouts.
Close attention was paid to the over-size foot pedals. Research concluded that the closer the pedals are to one another, the more natural the movement. This reduces stress and injury that typically occurs to the hips and lower back.
The frame is pared down to reduce disassemble time in the event of repair or maintenance. Smaller and lighter weight shrouds also make for ease of serviceability.
